What are the benefits of powder coating rims?
Powder coating provides a number of advantages concerning the performance and durability of your rims. Unlike a traditional paint, a properly applied powder coat will act as the first line of defense against the rigors of the road. Because the coating is baked at a high temperature, the surface not only looks great, it acts as a guard against rock chips, salt and any other harmful material you may encounter while operating your vehicle. But it should be noted that powder coating is not a guarantee against damage. Even the strongest coating will chip or crack if it is hit hard enough.
Although the initial cost of powder coating your rims might be higher when compared to paint, a properly applied powder coat will last and the color will not fade in comparison with a traditional paint.
How do I get my rims powder coated?
To get a set of rims powder coated remove the tires, stems, valves and sensors beforehand then bring those rims into our shop in Nanaimo and we’ll do the rest. Our expert technicians will inspect the condition of your rims and prepare them to be powder coated. We will sandblast the rims to remove the older coating and clean the surface thoroughly before we apply the coat. Please note that we don’t fix or repair rims. If your rims have been damaged in a motor vehicle accident, please visit a rim repair shop to get your rims back to operating condition.
In our shop, we only use top grade equipment, and our technicians have years of experience applying powder coats to all types of rims. Once we have applied the coat, we take your rims to our industrial oven and set it to the correct curing temperature. We have a thorough understanding of the curing process and we know what takes to make sure the coat we apply lasts for many years to come.
